From the reading I have done in the ATSG 46re rebuild manual a few early 2000 Ram truck models did have the 3rd generation electronics harness and components. As read from page 29, "some 2000 models may be equipped with the 3rd design level parts".
For reference there are 4 design levels. The most recent design(4th generation) started in early 2000 to current. The 3rd generation design was used from 1996-early 2000 transmissions. The second generation design was used in early 1996 only and the 1st generation was used in 1995 models.
