Default Alignment specs needed

and yes, ive been searching. Im going to perform my own aligment due to every shop using the lazy "toe and go" method. Ram 2WD SS/T if it makes a difference. just want to know what some DIY'ers found to be a good setup for daily driving. the last shop I brought the truck to didnt touch the caster/camber after I specifically told them it will need to be adjusted, ball joints were replaced. well of course they didnt touch the caster/camber, just the toe. It pulls to the right and the tires are severly tapered. The truck doesnt haul much anymore so I dont need as much toe for towing. I was thinking 1/16" (or .10*) toe in and -.10* camber, caster will be tweaked to eliminate the pull to the right.

Thanks!

*edit* also looking for info on dropping the truck, I dont see any stickies for 2nd Gens. Just looking for possible parts sources and techniques.

Pages 2-1 thru 2-7 of factory service manual, available for download on in the FAQ's section this site, has the info you need.

Ok great, thanks. Also wanted to know if anyone has deviated from "factory specs" and improved the alignment?

The only improve alignment procedure I know of is for a 4x4. For 2wd I'd stay with factory specs as stated.

@stewie

does it pull at all? looks like .10*(1/16) toe in from the pic. thats what im shooting for to keep the scrub to a minimum. also, camber looks positive on the DS front?

There is a slight pull, but it's greatly improved. I'm happy.

BUMP.

On my last weekend I finally got around to the alignment. Holy ****! Royal Auto in Ohio really messed it up! Started with Caster and found the passenger side was set at 3.86*, couldve been more as I tried to get the truck as level as possible but probably didnt. Reset to 3.16. The camber was set to +0.5*, which I figured since nothing was touched after I marked the mounting points after ball joint replacment. Reset that to -0.1* per factory spec. Toe was horrible, 17/32" toe in on the passenger side, about the same(if not more) on the driverside, so about -1.70*. When turned to lock the inside of the tire was completley off the ground, no wonder the outside of the tires are severly scuffed. Since I used to haul tools/materials the camber went way more positive and pulled the toe way in. Brand new tires were out of balance, out of round after 10K miles. Reset toe to -0.10* or about 1/32". First test drive and no more pull to the left, steering feels way better too. Id recommend any DIY'er to perform or at least CHECK their alignment, its a little time consuming but worth it. Pleny of videos on youtube to watch.
