what happens when serpitine belt snaps while driving

well, better late then never right!! But i went with the OE tensioner, and its still holding strong and quiet almost year later. But as for the belt, JC sent me the wrong one, so ended up going to O'reilys and got there cheap one. Had a 3mth warranty, and 3mnts and a week later it started squealing like a stuffed pig at a hog roast. Ended up going to napa anyways and its holding its own.(with a 12mnt warranty I might add!)

I had a belt tensioner brake one time while I was driving. Made a loud clunking noise, lights dimmed (alternator quit spinning), lost power steering. Drove it like that about 500 feet to get to a parking lot and had to tow it home.
