Default cause of this oil leak?

what could be causing this engine oil leak? I'm starting to think it's bad valve cover gaskets because it's a little wet towards cylinders 6 and 8 on that right side. it leaks down the side of the oil pan, and some oil leaks onto the cat pipe. it doesn't leak really bad only a drip or two a week but I'm just trying to figure it out and I had to put my hand in the pic to cover up the sun glare.

I think I have the same leak. Haven't checked it in a while though. Try tightening your valve covers just for grins.

yeah, that's what I was thinking because it only leaks like that on the side where it looks a little wet by the valve covers. This leak stinks literally because of it leaking onto the cat pipe.

I'll try tightening the valve covers and see if fixes it. If that doesn't I might replace the valve cover gaskets to see then. thanks for the help. I bet that stunk, oil leaking onto manifolds.

valve cover bolts often work loose. try retorquing them. if that doesn't work replace them with to good, expensive, rubber felpro's.

to find a leak, spray it off with brake cleaner or engine cleaner and find the fresh leak. the car washes have a new green engine degreaser that works wonders.

is that leak coming out of the bottom of the bell housing. if so, might be the oil pressure sending unit on back of block passenger side, or rear main.

Any Magnum or LA valve covers are prone to leaking, LA more so, but the Magnums do it all the same. Cure: Get a set of new blue FelPro gaskets, use brake parts cleaner to clean the oil of the bolt threads and the holes, then once dry, use blue threadlocker and tighten good. Problem solved.
