Or a worn out LSD.

Best way? Pull the cover, and LOOK.

What about a locker like this? I know this one isn't the cheapest of them but one similar to it.

500 bucks for a lunchbox locker? Seriously? Them fellers have gotten EXPENSIVE..... I would keep looking around, I have seen them for under 300 for the 9.25 axle.

Yea found them on ebay for around $250 and up. Would I be able to put something like that in my front and rear axles though? Thw truck isn't my e very day driver but I do drive it to and from work about half the time but I want to take it out mudding and stuff, so what are my options?

In the rear would be fine. Some are better than others..... I think one of the off-road magazines did some reviews on a selection of them in the not so distant past..... Front axle becomes a bit more interesting.... a locker will stay engaged whether the front is being powered or not. So, expect a bit of a gas mileage hit.... (1 or 2 points would be my guess) Aside from that...... lockers in front tend to give some strange driving performance too... Of course, there are members here that run lockers front and rear on daily drivers, and don't have a problem with it. (there is even a video posted in one of the threads here.... been a bit ago though.)

Limited slip in front wouldn't be any better than a locker. Ideal solution would be a selectable locker... but, those start getting REAL expensive.

Two to three is the hit I took on mpg when the DL were installed years ago. Yes having DL front and rear do make the truck behave differently but you get used to it fast. If looking at lunchbox lockers be warned they don't like tire's over 35 inches. You can get selectable carriers for the 44 like HeyYou posted but nothing for the rear 91/4.
