You need to make sure the carrier will hold your intended gear set. Some axles have a carrier for certain gear ratio ranges (the ring gears are thicker or thinner).

This is NOT a cake walk task for a 1st timer. Just a friendly caution. You are getting Master Install Kits too right?

You can re-use bearings, if they are in good shape. Shims and such depends on what your contact pattern looks like when the new gears are installed. There are some precision measuring tools required for this job, as setting pinion depth is something that NEEDS to be right. Grab the service manual for your truck, and read thru the procedure a couple times to see what you are getting in to before you start turnin' wrenches.

Probably looking at 300 buck per axle, just for labor....... call around, see what folks say. See if there isn't a 4x4 shop around that does this kind of thing on a regular basis.

Default 4.56 swap

I'm trying to go from 3.92 to 4.56. I'm running 35's. How do I know if I have thick gears? I have a 2002 with the 5.9 but the 3rd gen body.
I've searched but think I've only gotten more confused. It has the ifs with a 5" lift and needs help turning those meats. I've decided to go with Yukon and master install kits but don't want to order the wrong stuff. Randy's says my truck has a Chrysler 8" IFS. Anyone know if this is right?
