Aren't those set from the factory? I tried pushing the opposite direction on the butterfly linkage (to try and close them more), but nothing happened.

Usually, unless somebody jacked with them. You don't wanna see any light coming through the butterflies.

Crap, I already mounted the TB. I'll have to get another gasket. With the way the PO did the air cleaner, I wouldn't be surprised.

*knocks on wood*

If you haven't run the engine too much you MIGHT be able to re-use that gasket you just installed.

True, I'll probably do that and get another IAC to make sure. They are $32 at autozone.

So I disconnected the connecter on the IAC while it was idling, and nothing happened. I guess that's my answer, right? Either a bad IAC or bad wiring to it. Here's a few pics of the mess the PO made, and my junkyard air cleaner.

Air cleaner looks spiffy as hell. Got a paper filter in it? When that's worn out, get a Spectre drop in for it.

Also, go back to the junk yard and try and find the rubber stripping that goes on the cowl under the hood, helps keep water out of your distributor. And you might wanna clean your TB off. lol That RTV everywhere ain't helping airflow any.

Why should he go to a junkyard? I know where he can get one.

Valid point, sir. I am surprised you still have it as so many fall off all the time and I would have thought someone would have snagged it.
