coolant is brand new water pump is great and there is heat. now the thermostat is another story. my friend put that on and he put it on spring side up, whih i believe is backwards. would that make the thermostat to malfunction? also the cap is good. had it tested.
Definitely won't work right upside down. You'll have to remove it and put it in right. Slap your friend upside the head.
actually, fixed it yesterday and sill did it. i just replaced it with the old one, thinking maybe the new one has something wrong. the old one was fine but i always replace those when i do a tear down.
Still have an air pocket. Take off radiator cap, run the engine at a fast idle to warm it up quicker, and pack the coolant against the thermostat. Should solve it.
ok, did all that and it still reads 250. back to the original, what info can i get about the temp sending unit? i got this one at a parts store, maybe it isnt reading correct and i should get one from the dealer?
no, it does not start at 250 but gets there rather quickly. both are hooked up, amd after a test drive it didnt budge from 250 at all, even red lined so its confusing the hell out of me.
alright, another update. decided to check for my self the sending unit. took the thermostat back out amd ran without it, and it never budged from about 180, so the switch is fine. i dont know what the hell to do, but i love the truck to much to give up on it. any ideas will help
my friend suggested maybe a blown head gasket. any thoughts on that? i hate to think its possible, since its not sluggish at all, but im even willing to take shots in the dark at whats wrong here.
