Default CAD actuation

It's the 1996 Dodge Ram in my signature.

I love being able to run the transfer case 2WD in lo range, but despise having to get out, pop the hood, and swap vacuum lines all over the place to get my CAD to engage/disengage, so I started looking around for a better solution.

I looked at PosiLok, and while that was great, I want to be able to control the CAD unit with a switch, not a lever or cable. Essentially, I came down to two ways: 1) Use 2 vacuum solenoids on the vacuum lines and reuse the stock CAD unit or 2) Put a spring on the inside of the CAD unit to hold it in disengage position, then use a 12VDC solenoid to engage it.

What are your thoughts?

I like to make things easy for the operator. When the ladies start driving it or my dad, they have no clue how to actuate a posilock nor do they want to anyways - they are fine pulling the transfer case lever then flipping a switch though. It would look nicer as well too.

I didn't say it wasn't awesome or wasn't reliable, I said I don't want manual engagement, I want to be able to flip a switch. Couldn't be any worse than the stock setup, in my experience the only complaint I have about the vacuum CAD is the time it takes to engage or disengage.

To me, having to flip a switch IS manual engagement as the CAD AUTOMATICALLY engages when the t-case is in 4WD. lol

Do you ever read my posts thoroughly? If you did you would see WHY i need it to be able to flip a switch to engage the CAD. Dumbo... Read what I said:

I like being able to put my tcase in 4lo but not have the front axle engaged, essentially 2lo, that's why I want a switch, so that it is NOT actuated by the tcase system, like it is from the factory.... Get it now?
