Gutted cat's sound like CRAP

CHEAPEST way is to cut it out and replace with straight pipe. (What I did) Non fouler trick for the rear O2 to eliminate the CEL.

Feds require us to have a catalytic converter, but who cares about the Feds?

Replacement depends on local emissions laws in your area/state.

A Jegs Off Road Y Pipe is a good choice, or a MagnaFlow High Flow Cat.

But do check the plenum, if it's bad it will destroy another cat and O2 sensors.

If you have emissions and don't want exhaust shops b1tching, get a $70 cat from amazon.

That's what I did.

Truck only has a pre cat sensor.. And almost 100% sure it's an aftermarket cat. So I'm guessing it probably has a plenum problem. I'm going to look at intake later today. Truck has duals y'd off of the cat. Don't think that's stock.. And cat has a raspy/rattly noise to it. Don't know if its a leak or the clogged noise you were talking about. Also going to try removing pre 02 sensor to see if I have any improvement

I think a rattely cat is a good sign of a clogged cat.

It can be.

The honeycomb that's moving around can block up flow at the most inopportune time and clog it up. I know I had a nice flow increase when I had my cat replaced.

Update.. I'm pretty sure it's not a clogged cat.. Threw it in 1st on the column and it went all the way up to 4k rpms with no problem at all shifted into second and same thing but when it's in drive it won't go past 2.5k rpms.. Maybe something in trans? PO said he replaced the trans wondering if e put I a junkyard one

Have you checked the cat yet though? Need to make sure...

Might need to check TV cable adjustment:
