Default Wierd shutter when I turn a corner

I had a 1999 2500 Diesel that never did this. Would still have that truck had it not been totaled out as a result of a texting driver. Anyway, we survived T-Boning the idiot who pulled out in front of us and I ended up purchasing a 2001 diesel of the same configuration (4WD, extended cab). It does have wider tires than the 1999 had.

Things are fine as I roll down the highway. However, when I make a slow turn as in turning from one road to another, I feel a weird shuttering in the drive train, much as what you feel when the truck is engaged in 4 wheel drive.

I have had it to a shop twice and my local mechanic can't find anything. I suppose I could take it to the stealership and have them look it over but thought I would check here first if any of my fellow members would have any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Improper oil in the rear end for a lsd will cause this. Pull the diff cover look for damage, metal bits, if none found refill with good oil and the lsd oil modifier.

+1 if it has LSD and someone changed the fluid and did not put the correct additive in it.

If you feel it telegraphing in the steering, replace the axle u-joints. My experience is that they get cranky between 50-75k.

How do I determine if my differential is LSD? Since I didn't have time, I did have the fluids replaced by my mechanic when I purchased it since I didn't know when they were last replaced. And axle U-Joints were my first thoughts when I felt this. The truck has 84,000 miles so it could be both things. Something for me to do some free weekend.

Pull the cover and look. 'Nother option would be to get a build sheet from chrysler. (link in faq section) That will tell you whether your truck 'should' have on or not.

Pull the cover off the diff. You will probably find pieces of clutch packs and little clip that hold them together.
