Default Alternator Going Bad?

My '95 ram was having starter issues so I replaced the old battery, BUT I notice the alternator gauge is above the normal range. Is this how it should be, if not what do you think's wrong? This is also how it was before replacing the battery.

Don't go by the gauge. Most auto parts store will test your charging system for free if you don't have a voltmeter.
