I recently bought a truck and was toldit has a lift, which is obvious when sitting next to other rams. I currently have 33's and am looking at swapping them out for 35's or 37's but not sure if they will fit. Any idea what tire size a 4 in will fit? 6 inch?

 

that what she said..... all joking aside, youd know if it has a 6 inch lift.... 35's should fit no prob, even with just a leveling kit.

depends on what kind of lift was put in. some people put a body lift in, if thats the case find a body block and measure that, should give you a good idea. if it was a suspension lift, the only way i know iof is to find a stock truck and measure the distance from the axle to the frame, then do the same on yours, subtract yours from theirs... if theres a better way to measure im sure someone else will pitch in.

 

Depends on lift and rim offset. I have an 8 inch lift but with my offset, 35s are the max I can run without rubbing when I turn fully. If I could do it over again I wouldn't have got this offset keep that in mind.

 

Before you go putting big tires on, keep in mind you need to regear for them and that your axles will chew through front end parts. Ball joints and wheel bearings will become a yearly chore. Typically, 5" of lift recommend for 35" tires, 7" of lift for 37" tires.

 

yes, for the love of our trucks (possibly the greatest trucks ever built) please re-gear... johnn123 is right ball joints and bearings will be an annual thing, but bigger tires will put unneeded strain on drive shafts, tranny, torque converter, and lead to poor mpg... i believe i speak fort most of us when i say, you will not be let down with a re-gear. and please please please, dont be like a really good chevy driving friend of mine and get different gear ratios (dummy snapped hs u joints on a trail, in the mud, in the middle of the night, alone. i had to wake up at 3 to pull him out)

 

When would you recommend adding gears? I believe I bought my truck with a 4 inch suspension lift and it has 33's on it.

 

Before you put the big tires on. 33's would be alright with 3.55 (stock ratio aside from ORE's in 1500's). Any bigger your gonna want the gears.

 

To not necessarily go against Johnn123, but regearing aint cheap.
