I hooked up a ground to the 3-4 shift solenoid wire. As soon as I touched the wires I got p0753 shift solenoid a, and the truck went into limp mode. Cleared the code, shifted fine again and code came back as soon as I touched the wires again. I just changed the solenoids in the trans. I don't know whats going on now.

When you ground the wire, the trans should shift into O/D, regardless what the PCM thinks. PCM is whining about not being able to control it.....

Begins to look like the solenoid is bad if it isn't. Just because it is 'new', does not imply that it is good.....

The od solenoid is the goofy looking two sided one that bolts into the side of the valve body right?

Yeah, one is the O/D solenoid, the other is the TCC solenoid. I think it is easiest to just replace them as a set.

This might be a dumb question, but do you know of a way to test those out of the truck, or is there a way?

Probably.... but, I don't know how... Simply applying voltage across the wires should trip the solenoid.....

That's what I was thinking. Time to experiment.

Test the ohms coming off it. Put the positive lead on the center pin and then touch each of the outer pins with the negative lead... both should give you a reading of 25-40 ohms.
