Default Need advice on Shake.

97 dodge ram 1500 v8 2wd

Just put brand new tires on it, and had them balanced.

But there is a shake from 40-50 only.. When I hit the gas harder it goes away.. Or when I let off the gas it goes away as well

Does not shake at high speeds or anything under 40. Just 40-50

It's not the tires or balance so what else could it be?

I've read maybe the ujoints?

Any advice would be appreciated.

If you just had new tires put on, I would have the shop that did them rebalance the tires just to make sure there right. How many miles on the shocks ?, they could be bad

Did it do this before the new tires? If not, common sense would leave me to believe it IS in fact the tires not balanced correctly or defective. Take it back to whoever installed/balanced and tell them to do it again.

It is the tires. Try rotating them I bet it changes speeds/sensation

It did it before I got new tires. I just got the gas tank replaced about a month ago, and it didn't shake before that. But once I got it back it started shaking, and the same place that put the gas tank on tried to charge me an arm and a leg and said all of my spark plugs and wires were causing it. But I read that if it was the spark plugs and wires it would shake in idle, which it doesn't.

It doesn't necessarily have to shake at idle it very well could be sparks and plugs

How did they get the tank out? Did they drop the axle? If they did they probably reused the bushings which tend to fall apart. Check your shackle and leaf spring bushings and bolts. Check your Ujoints by trying to shack or turn the driveshaft.

If the shake becomes noticeably worse when the truck shifts into overdrive.... you have a performance problem. (engine miss.)

Has the plenum been done yet? I would be tempted to pull a couple plugs (6 and 8) and see what they look like.

I hear a bit of a rattle and a slight grind when accelerating as well. So how do I go about checking the bushings?

I'm assuming that they did.'i never got around to asking since I wasn't the one to pick it up. I'm not too saavy when it comes to this, so how would I go about checking this stuff? I assumed it would be something they either forgot to out back together or something of this sort since it did not shake at all before they put the tank in. I hear a slight grind when accelerating too.
