Throttle Valve Cable Replacement? '01 2500

After taking a look at it earlier I found that I overestimated the complexity of the replacement. I found exactly what you just told me. I was unable to get the end off the stud, nor could I get the plastic tab out of the metal slide. I'll be back at it, properly equipped, tomorrow morning. Hopefully I'll be able to get it out. Thanks for the reply!
the end of the connector on the ball stud just pops straight up. take a small flathead and place underneath it and press up. it is plastic so not too hard. it should pop off with a little force and wiggling.
to get the transmission side of the cable out of the mount there is a little black tab you have to either lift up and slide it out, or press it in and slide it out, I cant remember off the top of my head.
to get the throttle body end out of the mount/holder, there are little tabs, just press one in, push it back a tad, then push in the opposite side and it will pop right out.

I finally got it all out and the new cable in, but as life goes there's a new problem. I went to start it up and it chugged a bit and started and then died after about 5 seconds of running poorly. Waited and tried a second time, chugged and didn't start. Waited a minute or so, tried and it didn't even chug it just sound lie it was grinding a bit. So I said no more for me today. Any ideas?

Had a buddy jump the truck Saturday morning and we got it running. Let it run for about 10 minutes and gave it some gas while in park and the first 2 or 3 times it was fine, but the next time it died out. I was able to start it again unassisted and tried to give it some gas again and it died out again. I decided that I was just happy that it ran so we called it a day. After about another half hour I tried to start it again and it wouldn't start. I went back earlier today to have my buddy jump it again and I was going to let it run for a half hour or so but it went back to making the attempt to start but wouldn't turn over, even with the jumpers connected to his running Explorer. Any ideas as to what's the issue?
I'm most likely going to have it towed to a shop next paycheck and get these issues fixed. I need this thing running before the snow really fly's.
