Default Hello 95 Ram Michigan

You may have seen me in the tech area already but today I decided to get some pics of what I have on here. I bought my 95 Ram EXT 5.9L a month ago for only $750. I seen the listing on Craigslist and that this was once in a life time deal and traveled out to get it. To my surprise it ran, like a top! The previous owner and I took it out back of his property and it drives great! It was a little loud but no biggy (hole in the muffler). Its a little high in millage 192,000 but the way it sounds and drives it was no issue. So I dropped him the cash and the deal was done. Its a little rusty but here in Michigan its a common scene and it need new tires. I drove it from his house to mine and for $750 WHAT A DEAL! It drive great, runs smooth, and needs some tlc.

Well since then I have replaced the starter, and had an overall a full tune-up. I did run into an issue with the plugs and sent it into the shop. Now with the tune-up its like it has a new life. Hell its been in the shop for 3 weeks but I did know that they were behind a little but with what vehicles I have I was not down and out.

So today I was in town and parked next to a newer Silverado. My Ram was 2 -3 inches taller, is my Ram lifted? I need to replace the tires and would like to get some 32s for it but I have read it will need a lift. I want to do a lift anyway to accommodate for 35s but at this point in time and if it has a lift then I will go with the 32s and call it good for this year.

Here are a few pics of what it looks like.

take a peek under the rear, see how tall your blocks are, and if there is more than one.... Also, see how many leaves in the spring pack.

It's not lifted. In stock form these trucks sit pretty high, especially compared to some newer trucks. You can fit 32's how it sits now.

I think you got an awesome buy on that truck! Like Snow said, no lift on that truck, it's stock, but they do sit a little higher.

Newer trucks do sit lower, and the reason is to make the bumper more on level with the bumpers on cars, making it a little safer for the car drivers.

Its been awhile since I posted. I have, since then, rebuilt the engine but did cheat to cut corners to make it more cost efficient. I scrubbed all surfaces with a paint rust remover wire bush that I attached to a drill. I cleaned all valves, pistons, putnam plate, all gasket surfaces and then used mineral spirits to clean oil off of the rest of the places along with soaking parts and all bolts.... that stuff works great! After all parts where cleaned I put in new gaskets (heads, putnam, oil pan, valve covers, air intake, and exhaust manifold) , new piston rings, and new valve seals. The hardest part was when I snapped a valve cover bolt flush with the head. Still unsure what happened but so I took the head back off and tried to get it out myself I drilled into the center of the bolt and tried to use an easy-out. I snapped it off aswell, frustrated as hell I made some calls and took it into a machinist to get it extracted. It took them 10-15 minute to get it out then back home I went. The next few days went by and then I had it back together. It was a summer long rebuild since it wasn't a priority. I have put 110 miles on it now and it runs really strong and there are no leaks what so ever. I am using 10w30 with break in oil (Lucas) and taking it easy on the throttle. I have not and will not be hauling anything with it till I hit 500 - 1000 miles.

The pictures I have attached are mid way of cleaning and dissemble. I know I have a few more I just need to find them.

Gotta love broken bolts. Especially with easy-outs broken off in them... I am curious how they got it all out.....

All hell has broke loose at this household! The day before yesterday my PC took a dump, luckily I had a spare HDD to put in it. So I played catch-up with getting a PC up and running once again. Yesterday I tackled replacing my plug wires (burnt a few due to not putting in the wire clip/holder back in with the rebuild), distributor cap, and rotor. Wires are replaced but the cap is being stubborn. I can get one screw/bolt off easily but the other one the head is stripping out.
