completely remove ac system
ok im in the middle of a complete overhaul on my ram due to a jumped tooth on timing chain I was curious as to whether I could remove the ac system for the increase in hp, I know its not much but I really don't use it. I just wanted to verify that removal wouldn't interfere with anything else. I researched this on google and got nothing so wanted to ask for a second opinion

A/C compressor CAN take as much as 14hp to run. Generally it is significantly lower than that though. Usually right around 5hp..... I think the alternator takes more than that....
Removing it all won't give you any better gas mileage, at least, not noticeably..... if it doesn't work, it won't save you any horsepower at all. It takes next to nothing to spin that pulley when the compressor isn't engaged. Removing the weight will help a VERY little bit...... If your big concern was for quarter miles times, I would say "go for it"... but, for mileage? Not worth the effort, or the hit in resale value with it gone.
