your best bet for more power in that ram is to get a cummins put in it!!
I'd love a cummins, hell 4bt would be nice, but I'm trying to stay with the muscle car (truck) thing, a sleeper, rolling coal would give away that I'd be running some power but everyone has a loud ram running just cat backs, Id like to spool up and **** with sports cars in a quad cab long bed
Look up the power/weight ratio of both your truck and what you is a sports car. These trucks are heavy bricks
With that being said, my advice is to try to lose weight on the truck in order to get closer to that mustang
I know my truck is a giant led weight on wheels, especially being that it's a long bed with a quad cab, this is my fun truck, dirt road drifter, my hit the gas a grin truck, it sounds fast, but doesn't match the sound, it needs power, not a full drivetrain swap, just solid engine with some boost, smoke the tired off kind of power
I really want to know who makes a rebuild kit, bigger piston, lower compression pistons, injection problems I'll have. Metal head gaskets? Or ones to hold about 8 pounds, will the ecu work if I tune it? Am I throwing enough spark? Are the stock rods and crank going to be okay?
Why not spend less money, and build a 408? Either way, you are going to get into the thousands of dollars in pretty short order.
I think 2 small turbos is my best bet, maybe powerstroke or cummins turbos, fabricate all the piping needed, my bestfriend is a top welder and could build me all the piping I need, I'm going to cut cost by doing it myself
Doing it yourself will help, having someone that can bend pipe, and fabricate exhaust will help as well. Still, you are going to be spending several hundred dollars JUST on tuning. (and even more if you buy the stuff to do it yourself.....) Of course, that would be true no matter which way you went.....
Finding space to mount everything will be the fun part.
