You could probably put it off for a while yet...... the reasoning is though, it's only like 8 more bolts, and less than 100 bucks in parts, to do it at the same time.
Has anyone tried the rock *Solid' Ram Truck Steering? It's a piece of plastic that replaces the spring loaded bearing on the steering column.

I may be late to the party, but I have it on my truck. Ask me how much does it really work?
Let's say if I graded my steering slop at an F, the rock solid steering brought it to a C. Definitely a huge improvement, but there is still slack/slop in my steering. It's by no means "rock solid" but again it helped go from dangerous to a mild annoyance....
Replace the shock absorbers. You'll probably find one or both of them is stone dead.
THIS! I replaced my fronts 3 weeks ago then got around to doing the rears today (with MAXX suspension end bar links). My truck runs NICE now. I used to hit a bump and my truck would buck like a bronco. My end links go STRAIGHT up now, and with 85K miles on my truck the old ones were all crooked.
NOTE: If you have a lifted truck, OR an off road edition. DO NOT buy rancho RS5000 shocks. They are not long enough.
ALso, my rancho steering stabilizer crapped out after 10K miles (Gave me death wobble). I kept the stocker (thought I was upgrading) and put it back on and the death wobble vanished.
