Default Spark plug wires question

Okay. So after my swap I had my old MSD 8.5mm wires with close to 40000 miles back in. They are held with zip ties and all are most likely arcing and misfiring. All the symptoms match the TSB routing. I will fix this however I've searched and found these wires are bad with interference. I want a good wire set that works well with onboard computers and efi. I hear Taylor's wires are a good choice. I've searched threads but finds some misleading info. Cmckenna or similar had a post on it but I cannot track it. Most mods in sig. I saw he had actually tested wires and most are junk. Any help is appreciated

Other than a misfire, whats this crosstalk? I'm not sure what the proper (tsb) routing for the wires are. I have the taylor 8.2 thundervolts and are happy with them. Routed like a normal v8 would be. Havent heard any cross talk, lol.

Cross talk is when voltage running thru one wire, induces voltage in another, and the WRONG plug fires.

Ah ok. Yea, thats not good. Never had that happen thank goodness. Upgraded the ignition right after I got it. So the taylor wires I have seem to be working good considering I probally dont have them routed correctly.

Plug wire routing was a lot more critical with the cheap, factory wires. With a good QUALITY set of wires, its a lot less of an issue.

I currently run Taylor wires on my truck with absolutely no issues. Just make sure that you remove the steel spark plug tubes from your heads before installing the new wires and all will be good. Like HeyYou mentioned, spark plug routing only is an issue with cheaper wire sets.

Good info. I think the MSD wires are just spent. I hear they really can screw electronics up and I've gone through one factory pcm since installed. Interference very well could have been the culprit but I'm not 100% sure. I think I'll get the Taylor 8.2's as long as they have good insulation to protect from crosstalk and interference. The MSD did not succeed according to the tests the one member performed in the thread I cannot track down. However do the heat shields cause excess heat or chance of crosstalk at the plug boot end?

Just for reference: I'm running DUI (Davis Unified Ignition) 10mm Live Wires just left where they landed, and after five years they're still doing just fine.

The only real problem with the factory heat shields is that they trap foreign material. There's no harm leaving them in place unless you're not into blowing the crud out with compressed air before removing the plugs.
