46RE rebuild in progress...

The ones I remember off the top of my head, from rebuilding my 47re:
Case ID - according to the pictures in the book, both of the 47re cases I had sitting in front of me (out of a 98 and a 99 Cummins) were actually 48re cases due to fluid passages.
Torque converter depth - the book says the torque converter face should be ~3/4" recessed behind the face of the trans case. Not so, at least on the diesels.
Number of OD clutches - it says the diesels have one more friction and one more steel, along with a flat reaction plate, versus the stepped one for the gas trucks. Not true. Both of my transmissions were out of Cummins trucks, and both had the "gas" OD clutch setup.
You'd think the ATSG might get the info correct on a transmission that's been out of production for what, 8 years now? Clearly it's not a priority for them.

Thanks for the info!
While installing the superior reverse super servo today I broke the support ring, M-F'er...
Now I cant find a distributer to replace it, looks like im going to need to buy another servo just for the damn support ring.
