Default 4wd light flashes in 2wd

My 4wd light will flicker on and off while I am driving 30+mph. Anyone know what is wrong?

Check for vacuum on the outboard port of the CAD actuator while engine running, t-case in 2wd. Should be pretty strong. Illustration here of how things work.

Might be just a short then..... That switch on the inboard side of the cad housing, on the front axle.

You have to determine if the cad is moving or not. The 4WD indicator should be off when in 2WD. The cad has to move into the 4WD position to trigger the switch. Check the vac at the cad both in 2WD and 4WD. It should be the same. I believe there is a check valve on the vac line that goes to the t case. Check and see if it is working. It allows (and holds) vacuum to pass to the t case/cad.

I noticed that one of the tubes from the switch goes to a plastic line and there is another plastic line Identical to it could there not be a line attached that's doing it?

The plastic lines come from the the switch on the t case. They then go to the metal lines that run along the frame to the cad. Did you read my last post? Check vac at the cad!

What would could I replace the plastic lines that come from the switch? One of the metal lines has a plastic line missing.

Has it been bypassed?

You can just pick up some appropriately sized vacuum line (rubber) at the parts store, and repair the missing line.
