That would take care of your block and rotating assembly. You would still need cam, timing set, heads, rockers, lifters and pushrods, timing cover, front main seal, oil pump, oil pan, intake manifold, and probably a few more odd and end parts. That short block takes are of your engine block, crankshaft, rods, pistons, rings, bearings, and the block has already been bored out properly so no need to go to a machine shop, which is a benefit. The rest of the parts that you buy depend on your budget and uses for the truck. For a 408, I'd probably go with EQ 2.02 heads, a low duration cam shaft, 1.6 roller rockers, 50-52mm throttle body, M1 intake, and a good custom tune.

Im guessing here http://rogersperformance.com/site/EQ.htm The 360 magnum engine non LA style. Is that 316 per head or 316 for both. Also should i go aluminum heads with this from hughes?http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...=&partid=26453
And how about these? http://www.jegs.com/i/COMP-Cams/249/...rentProductId=

Here is a link to similair heads that you posted:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-DODGE-CHRYSLER-EQ-MONSTER-MAGNUM-318-360-5-2-5-9-OHV-V8-CYLINDER-HEADS-/171797459534?hash=item27ffed324e&vxp=mtr
I would pick out my camshaft first and then call the number in the ad I gave you. They will want your cam specs, and they will put the proper springs on the heads for you.
The heads in the link I posted are for their EQ Monster heads. There should be a line of heads that are 2.02 intake valves that is 1 step down from this, but you'll have to call them.

For the $3,000 you're going to spend on that short block you can just about build our whole engine if you pull your engine or find a rebuildable 360 in a junk yard. Your rotating assembly is going to cost between $1,500 and $2,000 depending on which kit you get. You will want to get the block bored .030 over and then it is up to you to decide which compression ratio you want. You can get anywhere from 9.0:1 to 12.0:1. Stay at 10.0:1 or lower for the street. Talk to Richard at HipoTeck and he will set you up with a good cam for what you have. Also think about getting rid of the stock intake and installing either a M1 or Air Gap. You don't need any of the high end forged crank or connecting rods for the HP you want. If you can afford it get forged pistons if not then get KB pistons. It will also help you some if you have a little head work done to the EQ heads to help them breath just a little more. But don't waste your money on any full on grind job as it isn't going to help in the RPM ranges you will be dealing with.
You are going to want a 3" or 3 1/2" exhaust and headers. Because you're working with a truck you can get long tube headers if you want. Go from 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 flange on the headers to a Y and then 3"or 3 1/2" past that. You also will need a min 53mm TB.
Once you get the engine built and in the truck get a base tune from your tuner to start the engine with. DO NOT try to break in the engine on the stock 360 tune.
There are 2 guys on my Jeep forum who just got done installing 408 engines into their Jeep Wranglers and love them. The one guy had a 2 1/2" exhaust and when he went to 3" he said it was just amazing how it woke the engine right up.
There is a book on building large cubic inch small blocks. You can find it on Amazon. Buy it and read it first before you do anything from here.
Yes a Hemi sounds great and there has been a few who have said they were going to do it but only one person has actually come back on the forum with a working running truck and it took him over a year to get it working.
