Default 1999 Ram 1500 gauge problems

I have a 2 part question. 1. My 1999 Ram 1500, had a small gas fire in the engine compartment. It got 4 wires in the main wire harness. I made all the repairs, when I start the engine it runs great but my gauges are jumping around. I replace the computer with no luck. Any suggestions? 2. The truck came without a tach in the cluster, if I replace the cluster with one with a tach. Will the tach work or not?

Which four wires?

Installing the cluster with a tach is hit and miss. Works for some folks, doesn't for others..... Try it, see what happens.

Welcome to DF!

Will a the wire harness from a 1998 ram 1500 fit a 1999 ram 1500?

If they are both same number of cylinders, and trans type, should swap right in.
