Default Alternator wiring help

Alright fellas on my 97 318, I'm putting everything back together, at the alternator there's a black wire coming out of the little box that's on the alternator, where's that go? Also, doesn't one wire come from the battery ground and go to the alternator? Thanks in advance

The thick black wire is a ground, if you have a/c, it goes to the stud that holds the line in place on top of the bracket, just to the drivers side of the alt.

Aside from the black plastic feller, and the wire to the alternator output, no other wires on the alt.

that's alternator output. That goes to the + terminal on the PDC, I think.... it's a fat wire that should already be in the neighborhood of the alt.
