Default Transmission doesn't want to shift 2nd into 3rd

I have a 2000 1500 4x4, I have replaced the governor pressure solenoid and the pressure sensor (transducer) and it had no effect. Fluid was in good condition, there was a small amount of shavings in the pan.

The problem is intermittent, it sometimes just wont shift into 3rd when it should, then when it does shift, it kinda slams into 3rd. This is getting worse. What else can I try? I have never adjusted the bands.

Have you tried adjusting the TV cable? And make sure that the light-duty return spring for the TV cable (at the transmission) is in place.

Ok, just watched this

I'll go give that a try now. Thanks.

A video, cool! Careful with that little clip, they like to break. And that spring, don't forget. I actually had to put a little more slack in the cable than specified. Mine was shifting too high of RPM's and too harsh for me.

Have you downloaded a service manual yet? The procedure is in there too.

Good advice on the return spring, it wasn't pulling the lever back all the way, so I replaced it. It seems ok so far.
