Default door pin rebuild

I bought a door hinge rebuild kit, basically a pin and bushing. The pin is correct, the bushing that goes through the sprung cam is way too small. Hole in the cam doesn't look oblong, I'm thinking its the size it was meant to be. So I'm thinking the bushing design is faulty. I forget where I bought that kit, probably advance. Is there a better kit out there?

The kit I got from advance didn't have the bushing for that at all... (was in the help section.)

Could check LMC truck, or, the.... ahem.... dealer......

Amazon is where I got mine. When I get the chance, I can look up the part number. You need it for the cam not the roller, correct?

Its not the roller. I replaced the pin and put the only bushing that was even close to filling the hole in the cam. It rides up after opening the door a couple times. That dorman kit looks like the one I bought. The pin seems right, but the included bushings do not have proper outer diameter. Inner diameter was fine. Its been a while since I replaced it, but now that I've started reassembling the cab and reinstalled the door - I am reminded that I have to deal with that if I want a smooth operating hinge.

I looked at the passenger side, hole looks similar in that side. The truck has alot of miles on it, perhaps someone drilled out the cam prior.... I guess I'll have to hit a jyard and see what others look like. Unless, someone knows what the diameter of that cam hole is supposed to be.

Pic included to show how the bushing almost immediately wiggled its way out of the cam.

IIRC, I had to drill out the hole a bit to fit the bushing. The kit is nice, especially because it has the pin but the bushing you should be able to find at a good ace or true value store. Go to the nuts and bolts section, in those little pull-out trays, look for bronze or oilite bushings. You should be able to find one with the correct ID and with an OD that you will have to drill out slightly for. I think your hole is probably hogged out a bit.

I pulled a right side hinge from a 1999 Ram yesterday. The cam is identical, just flipped over. Swapped it into the driver side, and I'm good to go. $5 at the local picknpull. Should last long enough to wring the couple years I plan to keep this thing.
