Kinda off topic but somewhat related: I got a 1999 V10 ram 2500 4.10 gears, 8.2mm wires, plugs, otherwise stock...now would I be able to beat my friends 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 5.7 vortec (cold air induction, dual flowmaster system)??? Gonna be racing him over christmas break since we're both away at college, I'm willing to bet him 100 bucks that mine would beat his in the quarter mile run and be nice to get a heads up hehehe.

what do you mean returned the 5.7 in 1996? as in they refined them? cuz i had friends with a 90 and 93 and my step dad has a 95 and all are 350's

wow this is an old post.......one i started back in january. Anyways GM for 1996 retuned the 5.7, which is when they got a power, torque, and refinement boost. Also i know that my friends 96 i mentioned at the start of this post is quicker than mine, but that's about all it is...

theres nothing wrong with racing trucks.. theres diesels out there running 12's.. the fastest cummins in the world is in the 10's! thats whoring the hell out of vettes, camaros, vipers ect. i know when i get a diesel will be racing that thing and hopefully putting it in the 12's its just badass seeing a 7,000+ lb truck beat little cars. also.. 5.7 vortec's are way better then magnums will ever be.. on the other hand the 5.7 hemi is way better then the 5.7 vortec.. magnum motors just dont put out enough power and torque to keep up with the newer vortecs.. if you want to beat 1.. get a diesel or hemi ram

Well I want to go fast and pull a load ,push snow and go through 2 foot of mud or snow .That's why I own a TRUCK and it's a dodge . Racing in a truck is heck of lot of fun . Anybody can race on bikes or cars ,but to race a truck that has bumpers higher than most cars trunk lids takes skill.
