This went alot easier than I thought it would. About 3 hours had the truck driveable with the new shifter. I've spent another 1.5 hours on details, i.e removing the column shifter, relocating the od off button, etc. and have yet to hook up the gear display light. It would take less time on a two wheel drive truck or 4x4 without long tube headers. I had to drop the front drive shaft to get to the linkage. It's a lot of fun driving with it.
looks freakin grate man, i love those shifters. the one day in the future when i cant get a manual you can bet your ass one of those are going in

I'm glad to see this thread, I've been eyeballing the setups the Dakota R/T guys have come up with. Hadn't decided if we'd have room for a floor shifter like this next to the t-case selector. And yes, a writeup would be awesome!
It's pretty simple really. I'll do a write up tomorrow. Main problems were dealing with the carpet and soundproofing (I guess thats what it is) below it. There were a couple of other issues that had to be worked around. Nothing close to major though. I'll include them in the write-up.

Thanks. I have an automatic. It basically works like a regular auto gear selector through park, r, n down to drive, then it ratchets between d,2, and 1. No more sending the pcm off to Michigan to have shift points tweaked.

You can pull it down to D and drive around normally with the auto doing the shifting. Slap it backwards twice from D puts you in 1 and you can shift up manually from there.

so, its the same as shifting manually with the column stick? Nothing but a relocation pritty much?

The main differences are that it ratchets into position with each shift (no chance of running over a gear or running over into neutral - more accurate) and that it has a reverse lock-out.
