I dont believe you cut the runners right. From what I understand, its supposed to be flat, not angular. But anything is better than nothing. Just wont be as good.
Yes, that is another possible way of doing the cuts, but I don't really think anyone knows what the "right" way to do this is. Unless you cut several of them and do dyno testing to compare which is better, you'll never know if any one way was better then an other. How can you say it won't be as good, have you tried both cuts and compared the two on a dyno to see which was better?

Nice job Silver! great DIY, did you reset the PCM? Notice any low end loss of torque/acceleration? Also just a thought? could this buck into the order of DIY to reside right next to the plenum fix DIY? Makes more sense to me to group them by relation to each other than by randomly completed DIY's. Just My Opinion.
yes, I reset the PCM. I've only driven about 20 miles so far. I've noticed no low end loss at all. It is actually better, but that is probably mostly due to fixing my plenum leak. Actually, after thinking about it, I think it is best if we just leave the DIY's the way they are. I don't want to move them around because they could be referenced in other threads. Moving them would change that.

Awesome writeup! I cut mine in a similar way with the cut off wheel... my mods worked awesome up past 5k on the 5.9. How do you like it now now that it's done?

not only is it another possible way to do it, its the proper way. hope that tech certification means something in the end.
leave it to silver with thedetailed write up. thats why he has the patch...hell even i gotta ask him questions on these motors and i work in the field..
It's funny to me how these trucks are 12+ years old and people still find quirks for them.
Hey Silver, I want to do the plenum, so the kit you recieved, is it easy enough for a noob like me to install? If I go by your list and do my water pump and all that, think I can do it in a weekend? Man I wish one of yall was my neighbor, lol.

I am a manchinist by trade and there nothing wrong with how you cut that. You made it work with what you had and the end result came out just fine. Just make sure there is no shop near by to catch fire.
