i dont know if you are familiar with duct work insulation, with the fiberglass and fire ret. backing, that is what i am useing.its nice and cromey(silver)

i took a 10x4 peice cut it to size, then with the side were the ins. is showing, i covered it with the scrap piece i cut off.i pulled the ins. off the scrap,so now both sides are silver with ins. in the middle, and taped up the seems with silver alum. tape. make sure you use as many clips as you can to reinstall, and now it is nice and bright so im going to dress it up with some dodge stickers (i would like a big ram head in the center.)

I checked out Home Depot and the only thing I could find was the "Reflectix 4 Ft. x 25 Ft. Reflective Insulation ModelBP48025", but looking on their website the temperature range is -60 to 180, which seems a bit low for that application. Oh well, guess it is off to the dealer tomorrow for me.

Default RE: Replacement hood liner (the heat/noise shield)

I just wanted to provide an update to this for anyone who comes along in the future.

I ended up ordering the shield from Dodge. Be warned that they send it in a flat box about 2-3x the size of the liner, so be prepared to have a way to keep it from blowing out the back or ask them where their dumpster is. The part numbers and pricing is belo

Part number / Description / Price
55350404AC / Pad-Hood S / $71.45
6003351 / Fastener-H / $3.90

I am sure you should be able to find fasteners that work just as well from Autozone or such that work just as well but I needed a couple on the spot and grabbed them. I would HIGHLY recomend replacing all the fasteners if you replace the pad. The new fasteners are T shaped with the top of the T bent inward to provide pressure. After a few years they will flatten out and no longger keep the pad tight to the hood.

I always thought this was to smother an engine fire (flames melt the plastic clips and it falls on the engine.)
