replaced the heads last winter, everything looked good, while its possible there were no indications that anything was wrong lower than where I was

yank the front o2's & clean them with the CRC elect. component cleaner. let them dry & reinstall, then look at doing the crank sensor mod.

If you get a tuner it will help a little ! But if you have 3.55 gears like mine, that is the main problem.

3.92 gearing will get those tires back close to the stock ratio. The stock tires are really small: 225X75X16, that's a 2.3" difference in diameter. It makes a difference.
