is there a possibility with all the work done on the engine a freeze plug or two could have been pushed into the water jacket so new ones could be installed? it happens!

lol I have a VW myself that runs too hot!....and I cant seal the engine compartment because its a kitcar and all open underneath, been screwing with it for a year now ...so I feel your pain about the ram running hot....glad you got yours fixed at least.....
Well, back to square one again. This past weekend, I headed down to Ft Worth, Texas, for a VW show loaded down with parts and bit. On the return trip, while crossing the Arbuckle Mountains, the truck starts running over 200º. Once I got home, I popped the hood to observe the overflow bubbling and filled above the high line, but no coolant spewing out.
The inherent problem I have is trying to explain to engine builders and other mechanics, who ask if I ever adjusted the timing, that the timing cannot be set on the Dodge. I explain the process of lining up the rotor, turning the crank over to #1 at TDC, and then the PCM takes over. No one wants to believe that's possible.
The other part that is vexing is that when the truck cools, the overflow is never sucked back inside the radiator.

I know it should work with a 195 state but I would just put a 180 in there if anything to prevent any damage while your tring to figure it out....it fixed my issues on mine....and I have no issues with the motor running at 185 degrees.

180 state is supposed to be better for performance anyway...especially if you have a higher flowing exhaust such...
Well, I'm running stock to the cat and then she's opened up 2.5" all the way out. What baffles me is that when the truck cools, it doesn't suck anything back into the radiator.
