diff lube

Hey guys just a few questions

1. ok is it 80w 90 gear lube for our axles, and what do u use for friction modifier

2. and what brand do you use

Just wondering what you think, and what would royal purple be like in our axles

Any heavy weighted gear oil is fine, I used 75/90 in mine IIRC. For a limited slip I just add a little bottle of whatever additive they had available at the auto parts store.

For as often as I change mine, I wouldn't put anything expensive in it such as royal purple. For me it would just be a waste of money.

i use valvoline 80/90 or 85/90 and also think royal purple is a waste of money.

I have an Eaton posi in the rear and I've been told not to use a synthetic lube with it or it will make all kinds of noise and problems. So, I've never tried it. I have an Ox up front but, since I'm not gonna run syn in the rear, I figured there was not much point in running it up front.

I have an open differential in the rear, and I run Royal Purple 80w-90 back there IIRC. I run the heavier, 75w-140 Royal Purple up front as well.

If you go with Royal Purple, check the packing on the bottle. IIRC, it comes with friction modifier already added.
