Default Plenum Gaskets

My truck has 68,500 on it right now. I just want to know about when can I expect the Plenum Gasket to go? Are they just about guaranteed to blow out? And also if I want to get a CAI, MSD Ignition system, MagnaFlow exhaust would a super chip still be good enough to use to get rid of DF, and also do some good performance upgrades? Or with those bolt on's would it be better if I just saved up and get a SCT. THanks for the input!

There is no time so to speak when the plenum will go bad and it is not a sure thing that it will. Check the plenum this way, http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2000/09-05-00.htm and yes the superchips will get rid of the death flash. And as far as the CAI and the MSD, IMO you will not get your money's worth out of those upgrades.

Cool thanks, and as far as not getting my money's worth, I know. But I like buying parts for my truck and installing them. Don't know why, just like to do things like that. Even if they don't give the advertised enhancements, which most of them don't. lol

You should look into getting a Volant instead of the K&N.

when i added a MSD-6A to my truck 5.2L, i did have a different exhaust tone alittle deeper and smoother idle but no change in MPG or power was felt.
also i change the plug gap to .50 instead of the stock .30
check the plugs after 3500 miles and the read normal a clean burn

I plan on buying the Volant as soon as I save up some monies. You can get them off E-Bay for $250~ so not bad price.

If you keep your eyes open, you can get the Volant on sale some place as cheap or cheaper than your typical K&N.

Got mine for just under $250, for example.
