My wife's 1999 Mountaineer has 135000 miles on it and the transmission shifts like a dream. Actually, we've had no problems at all with the vehicle. I'm not sure if we're just lucky, but it's been a breeze to own.

I sometimes get the feeling that the 94-01 Ram 1500s were built to heavy for their drive train. They have massive engines, and weigh a lot. I don't know any other 1500 series that seems so "heavy duty" like. They just seem to be a little too industrial for their size, and I think it may contribute to all of their early failure on certain things.
actually the first character is 3.
made is US is 1.

Reason: ?
I haven't had a problem at all with my truck, besides an 02 senors and just replaced the 4x4 u-joints. I've had the truck for 2 years and baught it with 126,000 on the clock, and I am assuming the guy that had it before us used it to tow something, there are three holes under the dash where you would mount the elec. brake controller. The truck now has 145,000 and I have pulled 2 snowmobiles behind it in OD up the highway at 70- 75 mph for 2 winters now. Knock on wood i guess. truck runs strong i have no complaints at all. Other than my 10 miles to the gallon

3 inch top gun customz lift, $1450 trans with HD coolerl
She's a work in progress
Any chance that the guy you bought the truck from rebuilt the trans? If you got it with 126K on it then the trans probably went before that. Yours may be a special case, but typically you end up rebuilding it.
I have an 01 dodge 1500 5.9 liter with 127,000 miles and my transmission just went out two days ago. But i was goin down the interstate and my transmission oil cooler broke and drained out all my transmission oil. But im just wonderin if anyone knows of anywhere i can get a new one.

There are all different types of places. I think even AutoZone can get you one.
I know a lot of people recommend: http://www.apsprecision.com
I have read that they are one of the best at making our transmissions.
