Default Muffler Ideas

As of now, I've tried 3 mufflers; The flowmaster super 44, a 5x8x18 magnaflow, and a flowmaster 40 series. For whatever reason, my truck in particular seems to drone, drone, drone, and drone. It almost seems like it lacks sound deadening material or something. I've been in other trucks, including 5.9L dodge rams, with the 40 series muffler, and the exhaust doesn't seem to consume the cab like my truck does.

At times, I love it, but sometimes you just kind of want to relax and enjoy the ride. Do you guys have any muffler ideas for me? Something that's going to be loud still, but have a lot less drone. Yeah it sounds great outside the cab, but part of enjoying your vehicle is making sure your passengers are enjoying the ride too. Most people that are in my truck for a long period of time have a migraine lol.

How bout a 50 series HD, or 50 series delta? According to the flowmaster chart it provides less interior resonance which is what your looking for.

At this time I think the best option is the stock muffler. No I'm not kidding. Maybe a 50 series as didn't you say you didn't like the Magnaflow tone? However, that's only if you want the Flowmaster tone. I think the stock muffler would be the best if you don't want noise. Most aftermarket mufflers are louder so of course the drone is going to be louder.

did you replace the cat? or get high flow, i cant remember? but i know when i missed with my Cat the interior resonance and drone was much higher, due to the placement of the cat directly under the floor board. it may not be your mufflers, but the cat you have setup. plus your headers add to extra noise to. i dont have headers so not sure how much interior noise they create.

is your exhaust dumped after the muffler? if so that might be the problem. i would run super 44 flows and run them all the way out. it sounds great outside and is quieter inside.

just my 2 cents

they didn't have a high flow cat and headers...?

you could run a stock set up and the have a cut out after the cat to up with no muffle or back into you flowmaster.. just a thought

here's an idea...don't get a muffler at all. Took mine off and it's louder than ****. The cat is next. Of course I live in an area where i dont have to pass emissions otherwise i'd go with a cherrybomb muffler.

check out www.corsaperf.com, i love the sound of their stuff, and they pride themselves on being "drone free", this is really high quality stuff, mostly seen on corvettes and high end vehicles like that, so dont expect a $45 super turbo here, but very nice stuff. I am also very interested in Spintech (www.spintechmufflers.com), i am seeing more and more of these exhaust products used lately, check em out.
