I'm pretty sure towing capacity for the 5.2 and 5.9 1500s both sit around 7,500 pounds.

what the 5.9 1500 got to offer? He should think about that gm break up grade if it works with the 2500.

I think beefing up your brakes, would be a hot idea.
Also an electric trailer brake is a MUST
Large transmission oil cooler would be an excellent idea too.

if i remember right the capacity for the 318 in a 4x4 half ton is like 7800 lbs, hell ive towed 10,000 lbs, (corn head, drove slowly b/c it was a wagon)

and Purpl, that VW only weighted prolly 2000 including trailer, it was just the body steering and transaxle, the 6000 lbs is a loaded bean buggy, at least 500 lb empty, with 2, 2500 lb bulk bags of soybeans in it.

Why are you guys hi jacking my thread talking about 1500s? huh huh huh? LOL Anyways I already have a aftermarket trans cooler. I also have a 3in exhaust etc etc. 7000 lbs and I dont even feel it behind me! I am serious. I dont think there is any need upgrading my brakes because I am under the limit and I stop fine.. I am still curious what is my tow rating for 5th wheels and bumper pull?
Thanks
