Good to see a young man with a plan. Seems like too many young people I know think they'll live forever...like I did when I was your age.

Seems like damn good advice for a self proclaimed leadfoot. Slow and mellow that's me. At least until I unload.

The camper sits up in the bed and I figure probably 3200-3500 fully loaded. Manufacturer claims 2950 filled with water. Then there will probably be a nother 2K lbs or so when I'm taking the trailer with bikes, tools, etc. I've never actually had everything hooked up yet but when I do I'll be hitting the scales just to make sure my estimates weren't too far off the mark.

I was 14 when I 1st talked to the guy. I have wanted to do this most of my life. Most days I don't have a plan I just think long term.

Default Update: rear sway bar - wrecking yard donor trucks?

Well there was one wrecking yard that was closed yesterday that I called today that said they had one. Went down and pulled off everything I need for a bolt on sway bar with all necessary brackets and bushings. It came off a 2WD cummins 3/4 ton truck. Not sure what year it was. $50 from the u-pull yard. Not sure if it is aftermarket or what but I'm pretty stoked since mine has all the holes already drilled in the frame and shock mounts on the axle for a completely bolt on installation with no drilling or welding required. Right on!

No quick disconnect or anything cool like that but hey beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Default Update 2: rear sway bar - wrecking yard donor trucks?

This stuff isn't going to work darn it. It *looks* OK until you try and do the install. It seems the mounting hardware required for my truck is just enough bigger so this stuff I got today isn't going to work. The mounting brackets just won't line up with the holes on my truck. Bummer.

I could try doing some redrilling of the various frame holes but at this point I'm about to throw in the towel on this part and return it for a refund if possible.

All in the name of science I guess.

I wouldn't get to bent out of shape about it. For 5,500 lbs or so you're truck is will be fine.
