Default rear sway bar - wrecking yard donor trucks?

I am predicting I will wish I had a rear sway bar when I try and haul my slide in camper around. It's pretty heavy at around 3K + pounds loaded up and around 9'5". What trucks may I transplant the swaybar, bushings, brackets, etc. from? Please see the truck model in my signature.

Installed the Torklift tiedowns, a new rear shock to replace the blown one and Firestone Ride Rite airbags this week. I have the E rated LT Parnelli tires on there. Thinking of doing the Chevy rear drum brake cylinder upgrade and finding a rear sway bar from a wrecking yard if possible.

Gonna give this old girl a chance at hauling a pretty good load and hope to reduce driver stress levels as much as possible considering the 4.5" lift on 36" tires. Not going rock crawling or anything with camper on the back, just want it stable on the road with occasional jaunts out on the beach at the ocean or into the dunes when riding MX, and probably some well groomed fire roads up in the mountains around here. My main concern is travelling the interstate at speeds approaching 70mph. Not sure how succesful at any of the above I will be but I'm going to find out.

Wait, what?! Are you gunna add a swaybar to the back, or is my truck missing something?

I know there are anti sway deals you can add to keep you tow load in check, IIRC the new F-150 comes with it.

BTW I am kinda drunk right now so if I make noe sense just disregard.

I have seen several 3/4-1 ton Dodges with factory sway bars, but Im not sure which model it was. Maybe it was a "camper special" or "HD" type suspension?

You could either go rummage the junk yards, check the parts stores for replacements for the stock units, or search on the internet for companies who make them. I would probably start with searching on the net and going to the parts store to see what they have.

Good luck with it and let us know how it works out for you.

I see 2500's with them all the time. I've looked for a rear sway bar for the 1500's, but never found one except from aftermarkets. They ran about $125 from what I recall. I'd like one too for towing, but don't want one for wheeling. Have to figure out a quick disconnect I guess.

i think you would have to go aftermarket, or buy the axle mounts for a factory swaybar. my truck has a rear bar, but it has mounts welded to the axle tubes.

I just looked at my original window sticker, and nothing mentions a rear swaybar in either the trailer tow pkg or the camper spl pkg. it isnt even mentioned in the standard equipment section. so i dont know what trucks came with them, but mine did.

For the front yes. Never saw ones for rear sway bar though.
