I have some problems that seem related to the IAC on a 1997 Ram 5.9L.
I replaced a bad IAC with an after market years ago and kept the original. Its OEM 53030657.
I went to the dealer this time and using VIN was given OEM 53032067AA.
Using intechanges and a Mopar parts sight, it looks like my original is replaced with same number with AC suffix, and part I recieved is for newer model 8L engine. Does anyone know if its right part or if it really matters that much?
Dealer said what I got was correct for my VIN and replaces my old number.
Any ideas?, thanks

i suspect its right. the IAC and TPS are common parts, shared by lots of different models, engines, and years. part numbers change all the time. just by the way, I had a strange surging idle and after replacing IAC several times with varying results I replaced TPS and problem was solved.

I looked on Mopar parts sites and it shows the part I got is for 2000-2003 8.0L Dodges and my old number for 5.9L or all models w/o 8L. Original number ending in AC I think was for upto 2000-2001 models but again w/o 8L. Just wondering if this is contributing to my problems.
Parts are always getting # changes, they redesign parts to work on more than one application, it is cheaper for them that way. But , like DV said, it might not even be the prob, it could be the TPS. Maybe others will chime in if you describe in more detail what probs. you are having
The real problem is similar to other posts I've seen, but I haven't come across a fix for mine yet. Been doing this a few years but seems more frequent now. Truck starts fine, idles good. If left idling after start up, usually within 2 minutes or less, the engine starts idling rough and makes hissing sound thru intake. A light tap of the gas will clear it up, if left alone it will clear its self after up to 30-45 sec, usually with a quick jump in idle speed and then returns to normal. Does it with cold or warm start. I have an Auto XRay scanner that shows the IAC stepping up and vacuum dropping and then usually misfires on cylinders. No codes are set.
What's been done: cleaned throttle body, new IAC, TPS, cam sensor, crank sensor, MAP sensor, coil, wires, plugs, cap, rotor, reroute wires, new evap solenoid(was stuck). New Magnaflo Cat, Flowmaster exhaust. Chg'd crank sensor when changing cat because it was easy to reach with cat out. These parts have been done at different times but all are fairly new. Intake didn't seem to have any pooled oil, and coolant temp reading seemed ok does differ about 10 deg from dash gage. So everythings about new, truck runs great otherwise and I'll continue to live with it if I can't track it down.
Guys got any other ideas I can try?
