I pulled my water pump since I had everything else out because it was leaking a little. When I pulled the bolt closest to the radiator hose and coolant shot out of it. I thought that mabye it had filled up from the pump, but when I looked at the gasket it was solid and as I left it out coolant contiuned to leak out. How in the world can coolant leak out of a hole? Where could it come from? The bolt goes through the timiing chain cover and into the block. I have never seen that before. Unless there is a logical explination I am just going to wrap a little teflon tape around the bolt and slap it back together.

Perfectly normal. I'm surprised it was just the one. There's usually 2-3 that go through a water jacket and will leak like that when removed. No need for the Teflon tape, just make sure the gasket surface is clean and flat.

there's 4 long bolts that go through the timing cover and into the front water jackets of the block. i put rtv on those bolt threads to prevent any leaks around the threads.
