Default Solid axle! Open diff?

So i have a 01 ram off road edition. I know i have the solid axle in the front. But what does that really mean? Do both wheels spin at the same time like my rear. Or is it limited slip?? I have 4:10 rear and front

It means that the entire axle housing is one piece, as a opposed to an Independent front suspension where the differential is solidly mounted and the axles are generally exposed Shafts that move with the suspension.

EDIT...Having a SAS has nothing to do with having a limited slip and to my knowledge no Dodge 1500 4x4 ever came with one from the factory. Someone will say powerwagon but that is a 2500 truck. You have an open differential in the front.

No Dodge came from the factory with a limited slip in the front. These are open differentials. This design sends power to both wheels so long as they have equal traction. As soon as one loses traction all the power will go to that side. A limited slip, anti-spin or locker will maintain power to both wheels regardless of traction.

Anti-Spin is the same thing, just a different name.

This is a good place to look at parts for your axles.

ABS air locker is probably your best bet up front. You want something selectable in the front differential. But if you're gonna run 35s or bigger just forget it, cause you'll start breaking stuff with a locked dana 44.

33s will probably be okay locked. Anything bigger start looking at a dana 60.

+2 or 3 on that. If you like to run in mud you will hate a front locker. You will have no directional control with it.

35's will fit with the slight lift you have. They might rub unless u get new wheels.
