im for now running what came with my round air cleaner, prolly gonna get a K&N, we've never had a problem with them on anything

them top fuel dragsters are something ain't they, i remember at Chicago Speedway Complex, going to a few races there, we were walking out to the track, and the top fuel cars were setting car alarms off

i heard the incredible amount of compression and power those motors generate can flatten a 1/2 inch dome on the pistons

i saw one of the heads on one, and the valves are huge

With 47's, 60's, and 64's they dont fly low or really spend alot of time at unimproved FARP's. So they dont see the dust/debris ingestion that the OH-58D does. Another problem with filtration systems on a turbine is that your loss of power. 47's and 60's both need all the power you can get. Their engines are tore down every 500hrs so they can fix the problems that occur. We pull ours after 1750hrs. In other Army airframes you are lucky to see a 1.00 or 1.01 engine (1.00=100% of rated power) but with ours I have seen a 1.15. It basically boils down to which one do you want to do....damage to the engines or loss of power.

Nah, Im just an engine guy......but Ive been doing it for 4yrs now. So I know a lil bit. Learned alot in the AVIM in korea and been working on kiowas the last 2yrs. Engine guys, sheet metal, powertrain, and hydraulics are all back shops. Which means we work on all the acft, not just one specific one.

you guys do it all different from us lol. we have powerplants shop, flight line shop(mostly just pulling the engines and doing the drive train work), avionics, airframes(which includes all metal work, composite work, hyrdraulics, tire & wheel) and thats about it lol

how many RPMs do those turbines spin up to
ive seen turbine engines used in super mod pulling tractors, those things are sweet

it all depends on the type of engine. jpnorris stated earlier that his spin at around 57,000 rpms.
