Nope, not much. I've been busy with work.

We will be checking that tonight along with the compression test. Then we will replace the plugs with Autolite 5224s which are the factory replacements. Well, the factory replacements if you want to go with Autolite plugs.

One more thing: Check the cam sensor to see if it is dirty or cracked. Also check the pigtail coming off of it to insure it is not dirty or packed with grease. When I rebuilt my engine and dropped it back in the truck, I had random misfire issues that were due to the contacts in the pigtail being dirty.

I'll have him check that, too.

We did some testing last night on the truck. We did a compression test with the throttle floored, turned over 3 times on each cylinder. The results:

1 - 120
2 - 120
3 - 120
4 - 135
5 - 135
6 - 135
7 - 120
8 - 135

He also ran some cleaner (BG I think, and he said it was a dealer only item for like $30 per can http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html ) through the intake while I ran the engine at 2,000 RPM. He also ran a similar looking can of treatment in the gas tank. I let the truck idle for a while this morning and I didn't notice any missing or rough idle at all.

I have an appointment on Monday at a Dodge dealership so that they can check it out and diagnose it for me. However, what I need to know is IF the heads are indeed cracked, how urgent is the problem? Do I need to fix it quickly or can I drive it another 50,000 miles (or more) without hurting anything?

All I can say is get your wallet ready and don't forget to remove the SCT tune before you go.

Actually, I'll be surprised if they even want to touch it, considering even the lite mods you've done.

I've had the SCT tune set back to stock for quite some time now since my gas mileage was so bad with it. The only non-stock tuning is from my Hypertech for the speedometer calibration due to larger tires. So they might not even want to look at it because of the bolt-ons? It isn't under warranty or anything. I hope they don't turn me away because of that.

Anyway, I have done some more searching on cracked heads on the internet and it seems like it is VERY rare to find a set at a junk yard (or anywhere else that has used stock factory heads) that doesn't have cracks. It seems as if quite a few people have gone 250,000+ on the cracked heads without major issues. I have 121,000 on mine right now so I hope that is the case. Maybe it is just a sensor or something like that that I can replace to fix the misfiring issues. The cleaner that my mechanic buddy used seemed to work pretty well but I still notice a very slight miss at idle.

If you have cracked heads, bite the bullet and get the thicker aftermarket cast iron type. I did and couldn't be happier.

I'll definitely look into it but I don't want to spend that kind of money right now if I don't have to. I'll be looking for my first job with my bachelor's degree soon so I'm not sure what the future holds as far as employment goes. If I can find a good job quickly then I'll get the heads installed within a few months probably. If not then I'll hold off until I do get a good job.

I guess the intake and fuel system treatment worked pretty well because I'm not showing the codes any more. I'll still take it in and have it checked out anyway though...if they will do it.

The dealer assured me that there was no issue. He didn't even charge me to look at it. He said that it is a low compression motor anyway and that anything over 100 psi per cylinder is great. I ran that BG and seafoam through it and it is running very well now. Thanks for the suggestions.
