I know many on here are not a fan of the idea of using products added to R134a to stop leaks in the air conditioning system. However my Ram has been diagnosed with having a leak in the compressor but works fine so long as I keep adding r134 to it. Is there any reason not to add leak stopping fluids, given that I already plan on replacing the compressor & accumulator? I'd like to be able to delay it a month or two if if possible for financial purposes, but do plan on replacing it before the end of the year.
Thanks for your input

reasons :
It is unlikely to work....remember the pressure is up to 300lbs
A/C has metering devices- small restrictors- the sealer tend to clog.
Desicant bags do NOT like...
the component will eventatually fail NOW getting it out is a task.
flushing and flushing to get out.
Some shops will do a refridgerant ID- once sealer is present they do NOT want the job as their equiptment will be damageg? contaminated.
The mentioned components will need changing adding to expense
How much surva are you using...X cans per ? ....
Suggest you use refridgerant with DYE (no sealer) TO CONFIRM DIAGNOISES .... THEN POST WHAT YOU OBSERVE AS leaking
Problem is, it's much more common for it to be the evap core in the dash. Don't get hosed is all I'm saying. Get a second opinion. And btw, you went to a shop and all hey did was a UV test? They didn't use a heated refrigerant leak tester?
i have always used this little yellow can from autozone that works really good, i had a leak on my previous truck that lasted about a week and after adding that it goes out at about 1 month and a half
The can costs about 22 dollars and it comes with its own hose (there is a similar one in red but i havent tried it yet)
