egr doesn't have anything to do with emissions. what it does is recycles fuel that might have happened to go down the exhaust headers and recirculates it back into the intake process. and from what i know, if you just plug it off, there aren't any side effects. but theres really not a reason to unless you get headers that don't have an egr port on them.

I don't have an EGR on my truck so I can't say for certain, but on vehicles that have an electronic connection going to the ECM, you may have a problem if you disconnect it. Why EGRs are still being used is beyond me. I would have thought they could have figured out a better way by now. My 09 Mustang has one and it's only hooked up to one side of the exhaust, so what the heck is the point? I know I can't get rid of it due to the biannual smogs checks here. Aside from emissions, they do a visual, so they catch everything.

sometimes it will throw a code, sometimes it wont. to be honest, i dont think it will. the egr doesn't have anything to do with emissions, so getting rid of it shouldn't effect how your emissions testing turns out. and they have found a better way, no egr lol

even with emissions, i wouldn't think a 14x3 would affect anything.

some areas with a very picky visual, cough-cali-cough, it wouldn't pass due to no CARB sticker...bastards

Absolutely, California sucks big time. Now they have these "Check Only" Stations where they go over every inch of your vehicle and they charge triple the regular inspection fee. It was supposed to be a random drawing kinda thing, so I called and asked "Why the heck does my truck have to go there every single time?!" The answer was a typical stupid bureaucratic "We don't make the rules sir?" I haven't been to a regular smog station in the last 10 years. A plugged EGR would get me disqualified. All they have to do is look at the sticker under the hood (which would show and EGR in the system if I had one) and I'm toast.
