Thumbs up Misfire

Hey guys. I haven't posted in a good while. I sold my 98 ram about two months ago but got the itch and gave the guy I sold it to a call and made an offer. So its mine again. Ha Ha! It was running good when I sold it to him but now it has a misfire on cylinder #4. He said it started after he changed the plugs and wires. I checked the plug and it looks new and gapped correctly. I replaced the wire to see if it was the problem but it didn't help. What else am I missing? Injector maybe? I did put some fuel cleaner in the tank but it didn't help.

Hmmm...maybe you should vote for me for TOTM. That might clear it up.

Have you tried wiggling/disconnecting that injector to make sure that's not the problem?

Sounds like the wires aren't properly routed.

Well I changed the plug and wire. I'll swap the injector here in a bit to see if it helps. The guy checked the compression and it checked out fine. He did replace the flowmaster side exhaust I had installed w/ the used exhaust off a ram in a junkyard. He still had my exhaust so I'm putting it back on.

Route the plug wires properly.

TSB 18-48-98

What wires did you use? What plugs?

Also, did you replace the cap and rotor as well? If not, they are pretty cheap to do, and may solve the issue. Kind of a routine maintenance thing anyway. Get the brass kind, usually last longer.

But most importantly... go vote for Miami in TOTM, if you haven't already.

I did get the 0304 code. I erased the code and it has come back on since I've replaced the other things. He replaced the cap, rotor, plugs and wires. He used Autolite wires. I grabbed a wire I had from another set for the truck and it didn't help. I swapped injectors and no light so far but still runs a little rough just not as bad. It would just idle a little rough but would run perfect once it starts moving down the road. I'm just gonna replace all the tune up items anyway and reroute the wires just to eliminate everything at once tomorrow. Just something simple. THe guy bought a Superchips tuner 3715 and what a huge difference it makes. With the 20" wheels before it was a dog, now its day and night different.
