Default Noisy Oil Pump

I just got done replacing my intake, water pump, timing chain and oil pump on my 96 RAM and there's a very loud sound coming from the oil pan. Now, what I failed to do was to check the placement of the pickup tube. Could the crank be hitting it? It is very loud. In fact, I am not sure what is causing the noise. I rolled under it and it's definitely coming from the oil pan. Any advice on this noise issue? Prior to this, the old one was dead quiet. No noise until after the change was made.

ok, what does it sound like ?
tick tick tick
roar roar roar
growl growl
clack clack

and do you have oil pressure or not.

you need to take it back apart and see whats wrong. it shoudn't make any noise at all.

when i changed mine, i failed to overlap the flex plate cover ip with the oil pan exactly right. it went clack clack clack as a flex plate bolt hit the cover. i had to take the starter and flex plate back off

Ok, the oil pressure is fine. New oil sending unit as well. The sound is very hollow sounding.

I was just going to remove the flex plate actually. It's hard to describe the sound.

It's not a ticking sound nor a clacking sound. It is not high pitched. It is mid range in pitch and sounds very hollow. Whirring or roaring maybe.

I was just taking the flex plate off actually. So, I will start there first.

Removed the plate, doesn't seem to be any interference. Going to pull the pan.

Problem solved. Upon closer inspection of the flex plate, there was evidence of interference. I removed it and ran it. No more noise. Thank you very much for your advice as it helped. I was not in the mood to remove the oil pan today. Thanks again.
